DESTINATION: EXTENDED NASHVILLE AND MEMPHIS
September 7-12, 2022 $2295 plus air

Five days is just not enough, so we’re adding a day to this music city FUN trip! Flying into Memphis, we’ll collect our van and start the three hour drive to Nashville, stopping for lunch and a visit to Casey Jones’ home and museum (remember the song? His locomotive is there too).

In Nashville, planned activities include the huge Country Music Hall of Fame, Grand Ol’ Opry show, the General Jackson steamboat, and a stroll through the amazing Opryland Hotel, which features huge wooded areas and even a boat ride through the building. It is an amazing place to visit! We’ll visit the rustic downtown, and see the famous Ryman Auditorium, where Opry first began many years ago. Mindy has a friend who’s a musician in Nashville, and unless he’s touring he promises to give us a private little concert. His name is Brody Ray, and he was on America’s Got Talent a few years ago.

Heading back to Memphis, it’s a whole different musical event. Instead of Country, we’ll listen to Blues. We’ll tour Sun Studios, where Elvis, Johnny Cash, and others first recorded music. We’ll have supper on famous Beale Street, where music just pours from every restaurant on the street.

And finally, we’ll spend the day at Elvis’s Graceland, touring several Elvis museum, visit his airplanes, and then we’ll take the trolley across the street and tour his home. He is buried here, alongside his parents.
